About the Author 

Tah Asongwed was born in Baforchu (Mbu), Bamenda, Cameroon. After completing secondary school in Sacred Heart College, Bamenda, he attended the Cameroon College of Arts, Science and Technology in Bambili. He subsequently attended the Universities of Ottawa, Toronto, Massachusetts and Paris 111. Tah Asongwed worked briefly for Radio Cameroon. He was a lecturer in Laurentian University, Canada, a translator-interpreter with the West Africa Rice Development Association, and a principal interpreter with the African Development Bank where he was elected the chairman of the Staff Council. Tah Asongwed has published scholarly articles in linguistics journals. He is also a musical artist, composer, arranger and producer.

Yet the party survives, participates in the National Assembly, maintains a grassroots structure, and prepares for a presidential ballot in 2011 that will probably determine its fate. The author conducted research four times in Cameroon, 1989-1999, focusing on the SDF since 1991, and maintains party contacts to the present. The book assesses its history and its prospects, covering the SDF in Africa-wide as well as Cameroonian terms.
